Hard Truck

Hard Truck belongs to the cargo-delivery family where the freight is simulated rather than abstract. The load shifts, and a shifting load changes your centre of gravity mid-corner, which means the safe cornering speed depends on what you are carrying and how high it sits. This produces a different discipline from ordinary driving: you are managing the trailer, not the cab. Braking transfers weight forward and can push a loaded trailer sideways, so slowing needs to happen in a straight line and well before the turn. Losing cargo usually fails the delivery outright even if the truck arrives intact.

This title is best suited to players who like simulation detail and the challenge of driving around a load rather than a car.

1. Brake in a straight line and finish braking before you begin the turn.
2. Corner more slowly than the cab alone could manage — the trailer sets the limit.
3. Accelerate gradually; sudden torque can shift or shed a high load.
4. Watch the trailer in the mirror on rough ground rather than only the road ahead.

• All braking before the corner, none during it. A loaded trailer under braking mid-turn is how rollovers happen.
